- The name “Sital Pati” means “cool mat”, as it remains cool even during hot summers.
- It is a traditional handicraft in Cachar, Barak Valley, Karimganj, Hailakandi, and Goalpara districts of Assam.
- The mat is an integral part of Assamese households, used for seating, sleeping, and religious ceremonies.
